Like the title says my bts has been hiding/buried under his corner tank water pool, (like in my avatar picture, except for his head not sticking out) for about 2 days now. I put some food in his tank in hopes to coax him out but he just hissed a bit and stayed put. I'm afraid he isn't getting the heat he needs since his basking bulb and rock are on the other side and now it seems hes not eatting, of course his food has only been in their for around an hour.
He usually basks on the hot side all day then heads for the water pool to sleep at night so I don't think temps in the tank are screwy, this is just weird behavior to me.
Is this behavior normal?
Should I attempt to move the pool or let him be?
BTS has been buried for 2 days straight now, is this normal

So my worry got the best of me and i had to move the pool, i was afraid it may have pinned him down or something from shiffting in the substrate.
Well......let me just say he didnt like that one bit. he curled into his striking pose and huffed and hissed at me and my sister for a while. then he eventually calmed down and ate a little bit of food then went under the basking light and has been there for a while now.
he seems to be getting back to normal, not hissing at me and my sis now and flicking his tongue instead. hes moving a little slower than usual but still alert. i put his water bowl back after changing it.
im still a newbie when it comes to owning one of these lizards so i guess im just not familiar with their habits, does this behavior sound normal? more with the being buried for 2 days straight as aposed to hissing and huffing at us. ( i would be pretty *ticked too if a giant came and took my house away while i was in my room haha).
thanks a lot guys!

This is what Ruckus is doing right now. Hes been in his hut for four days now. Weve woken him up and brought him out only for him to go back into his hut. I am about 100% sure he is going to shed. This is normal behavor for my BTS before he sheds. Also a day or so before he sheds, hell become a little more active and acually grace us with his presents..
It will all depend on age though, Jenn will definatly know more about this than me lol

well im glad to hear this kind of behavior has happened to others, how often do skinks usually shed? Raptor basked under his lamp all day today after i *ticked him off earlier and finally retreated back to his home this evening, ill just have to keep an eye on him i guess.
i hate being overly worried lol

Mine has been somewhat brumating last winter, she hardly ate and I've barely seen her at all. Now we are starting to have a better pattern
Normally (at least, normally for my skink) she stays hidden for four days, eats and basks a day and disapears for another four days. She is almost a year old now and sheds just fine so I'm not concerned. Just a bit disappointed that we don't see her as often as we should like
each day's a gift, not a given right.

Being hidden for days is completely normal. They are reptiles - if they aren't hungry or have any need to be up, then it is safest to remain hidden and away from predators.
Some are more curious and get up more often, but especially when new and afraid, hiding lots is completely normal and expected. Work with a new bluey slowly and patiently so they can learn that you won't harm / eat it and that it is safe to come out.
