Extremely Important -- Read This First!

This Forum is for scientific, medical, pathological, environmental, etc. discussions.
Rules are different for this forum, be sure to read through them inside.
Forum rules
The rules for this forum are different from all the others on this site.
1) Questions regarding sick skinks do not belong here.
2) If you are not sure if your topic is OK here, post it in the General Discussion forum; a moderator can then move it here if appropriate.
3) This forum is for advanced discussions, such as scientific, medical, reproductive, pathological, environmental, etc.
4) PROOF, FACT, and BACK IT UP are three things to keep in mind when posting.
5) Comments need to add to the discussion. “Good job”, “I agree”, or “Nice skink” etc, do not add to the discussion and are not allowed here. If stating an opinion, back it up with what experiences have led to that opinion.
6) The 3 month rule is not in effect; you may post on any thread no matter how old it is.

Extremely Important -- Read This First!

Welcome!

Is what you are posting / asking a fairly basic question? If so, please post it in the General Discussion Forum. Generally first time owner questions and concerns will fit better in this forum: viewforum.php?f=4

This forum was created to separate out the scientific, medical, pathological, breeding, environmental, and locality type discussions from the cute skink photos, new owner questions and general banter. We want to ensure that there is a place for both on BTS.net! Everyone can read and contribute to this forum, although our aim is for this to be a more advanced forum... so please, if you don't have anything meaningful to contribute, just read, learn and enjoy. This forum will be monitored carefully and off topic, pointless or unnecessary comments and posts will be removed. All debates and discussions MUST be conducted in a mature, respectful manner.

Our hope is to make this forum a place of learning for all members of BTS.net, free of criticism or know-it-all attitudes. If you do not know the background of the person you wish to respond to, please take the time to learn it before you criticize. Questioning is encouraged, but please realize that experience is very important and cannot necessarily be learned from reading or research – please respect the members with many years of experience or who have been working with many animals and multiple species. Please try to only post information from first hand experience and not what you have read or heard.

Please note that the general site rule of not reviving threads that are older than 3 months does NOT apply to this forum. You can add to a topic at anytime, regardless of how old the thread is.

+ 1.1 Eastern (Eugene, Enzo)
+ 1.2 Northern (Niko, Pearl, Peach)
+ 1.0 Tanimbar Island (TQ)

Just a reminder to please read this and think before posting in here. We are seeing a lot of comments that aren't contributing to the discussions - please keep the comments and compliments to the General Discussion Forum and not the Advanced Forum. Thanks.

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the purpose of the Advance Discussion Forum. As stated in above posts, many topics can be discussed in this forum, however medical threads that shouldn't be posted in this forum are consistently being posted in this forum. This forum is geared more towards the scientific reasonings of why illnesses have occurred or the science behind the disease. For the most part, threads involving a sick skink and wondering what's wrong with said skink do NOT belong in this forum.

Please, if you are unsure if your post belongs here, post it in the General Discussion Forum! A moderator can then move it to the Advanced Discussion Forum if they see fit.

Thank you for your cooperation!
Brad
