how long is your northern

how long is your northern

today i visited a fello aussie reptile keeper to have a look at his northern bluie collection and see how he has set up an out door enclosure for desert sand goannas and saw first hand and held a northern bluiey of 67 cms and if it didnt weigh 1 kg ill go he,its the typical darwin looking northern variety and a female and is hu bloody mungus,also he had some wa varieties as well and he offered me a female broome phase northern which of couse i couldnt refuse,beautiful lizards and opened up my eyes to the great variety there is in northerns,i will post some pics of my broome phase tommorrow or the next day as its to late now ,is there a cure for bluey addiction,actually dont tell me i dont want a cure :lol:

My female Northern is around 54 centimeters so 67 is huge, 26 1/3 inches.

Wow, would like to see that one.

My 6 year old female northern is about 20 1/2 inches (about 52 cm). My 3 year old male is 22 1/2 inches (about 57 cm). My youngest northern, who will be one at the end of this month is about 18 inches (almost 46 cm)

:shock: Yeah, I've never heard of a Northern that big! But I don't deny it, I've seen 22-24 inch Northerns, what's two more inches in rare cases.

thanks,she is a bit of a looker,shes had her tail bitten off a few years ago by an over anxious male but its grown back a bit but very stumpy looking,i was offered it yesterday when i visited the previous owners northern collection,he has some stunning varieties of northerns

I adore that girl,those tiny little freckles are lush, is she a tad podgy or is that the standard format, either way I'm envyous

All the lenghts were not specified from where to where, eg nose to vent, I had my tape measure out in work trying to do comparisons, now there's six black lines on the wall and I used a permanent marker :doh: :bye:

g,day geoff,naah not mark,mark has nice ones to though,i believe they both got there founders from the same person though,perhaps,and yep it is a bit jubby,lol,almost looks gravid,and total length leigh tip of nose to tip of tail

But these are just standard Kimberley phase, aren't they? Broome area Northerns count?

yeah sort of zach,the guy had 3 wa varieties and they were all so different,he had some of these broome ones,some from kunnawarra,some from prince fredrick region and the giant nt type one which he got from a darwin breeder originally,some of the nicest looking blue tongues ive seen,hes bred them before so im hoping he does this coming season as id love to buy a few,he comes on here sometimes to,not sure if hes a member but if he reads this i hope he shows u some pics

That'd be great. If you have any other random Kimberley Northerns, I'd love to see them! They're one of my favorites and we just don't see too many specimens.

next time i see him ill bring my camera and ask if i can take some happy snaps for u,to show the variety in them,and u have to see the big one i still cant get over its size,theres a pic on one of the aussie forums of the giant northern,ill find which one so u can have a look

look under dragos,skinksect u will see a few threads on the northerns i saw,including the big lass,the pic looks like she has temporal streaks but its just the pic,in person she doesnt have them,and they look so much better in person
