Blue Tongue Icons for Film

Hi,

I am undertaking a masters degree in Natural History filmmaking. As part of my major film project I am doing a film on animals that have adapted and do well in the urban environment. One of the species I am covering is the Easter Blue tongue. AS part of the film I am looking to include items that we have created to celebrate these animals e.g putting them on stamps, coins in picture books, flags etc. I was wondering if anyone had any idea whether blue tongues have been celebrated in this way and if so where I might be able to get hold of these items.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Tracy, are you from Australia? Do you own any blueys? Just curious.

I know that members on this forum have purchased stamps, postcards, stickers, a children's book, and Yowies (at least I think that's what they are) of blue tongues. I'm not sure if all these items feature the Eastern, and I'm guessing that most of the members wouldn't part with these items. However, they might be able to tell you where to find them.

Yep, there's the blue tongue brewery. BTS have long been celebrated in Australian tribes as far as I know...someone posted some really neat aboriginal artwork not too long ago. Boy, maybe it was longer than I thought....can anyone find that link?

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am an Aussie, from Adelaide South Australia. I don't actually own any blue tongues but enjoy seeing them in my garden and around the place at times, and have always had a soft spot for them. Thanks so much for the beer tip, I have heard of it before and have definatley seen it in the local bottle shops.

In my searchings last night I found a childrens book as well as some aboriginal artwork (not sure about the rights for that). Thanks Marie for the tips about the stamps, yowies etc. I will chase that up. Sometimes just a bit hard to know whether these exist or not.

The children's book is quite cute, I got it for someone on here about a year ago. (had to order it online from Angus & Robertson or Dymocks)

I find there is very little in the way of blue tongue stuff available here. I think it's because there are more exciting australian reptiles out there, you'll find heaps of souvenirs and the like with frilled neck lizards and thorny devils and crocs, but I'm still yet to come across anything blue tongue related other than the beer and the shingleback wine.

A yowie is a chocolate that is shaped like a monster type thing that has a toy inside.

The beer comes in larger, pilsner (I think) and I looked on their website and they apparently have an alcoholic Ginger Beer too. I tried the larger and it was pretty good. I am keen to try the ginger beer but haven't found that at the bottle shops yet.
