My new bts, lilly

Postby Brigget » Sat May 12, 2007 7:03 pm

I just went to petco where I shop for my supplies and they had 3 bts in and they all looked differant. I am new to the differant tyypes so as soon as i get my cam charged i will post and see if shes northern, ij or other. i have an ij she looks similar but with lighter skin tone. She has a great personality and normally I dont wanna buy from the store but he gave her to me half off. They know me well I saved some uros they were killing and they are great here with me. but anyways halfway home a brown bug was on my daughter and i noticed under her scales were more. I have her quarantined from my other animals and have her on paper towels. I soaked her like ray said and am ordering the mite killer from usersafe as soon as possible. Anything else I can do in the meantime? I called the store and told them they needed to get the others treated or they would end up sick from it. I am glad I got her cause she would have ended up in someones care who didnt realize what was wrong with her. I am also awaiting my tanimbar from ray so I will have my 3rd and final (or so I say) bts. Pround new mom on the forum.

Yep! Mites.

Be very careful going back and forth between her and your other BTS.

awesome you got a store bought with a good personality for a good price! Don't worry about the mites, it's a pain, but a 5 dollar bottle of spray from any pet store will take care of it within a week. If you can buy locally, I would take care of it asap to stop any chance of them spreading, plus replacing the bedding with treatments gets pricey, hehe.

Another problem with wild caught skinks is they tend to have internal parasites as well. You'll need to get a fecal test done to rule that out. A lot of big pet store chains over there can do it for you, I'd ask the store you bought it from.

I am pretty sure she will be an IJ but I was hoping I had found a northern cause she is much lighter than appears in the pics.

I'm definitely no expert, but my guess is IJ. She's pretty, she looks like a mini version of my "Wings".

Shes sweet but in one of the pics you could see a mite on her eye. I got it off but I cant get them all until shes treated. I also put a pic of my big blues enclosure in the photo album page.
