Australian Frog and Reptile Show Sydney (Lots of Pictures!!)

Postby mouseinamilkbottle » Fri May 11, 2007 7:52 am

Okay, now Wallflower Girl took a few hundred photos. We whittled it down to the best (about 70). I'll only be directly posting the bluey ones here, but anyone who wants to view the other herps, go here and look through the gallery. If you have broadband, you can even click on the button and watch it as a slideshow! Please, if anyone notices misnamed herps or can put a name to ones that I've left ?s for, just respond here or PM me the image name. In particular, just about anything that looks "dragonish" has been labelled "Bearded Dragon".

Okay, the blueys.

Peekaboo (Northern)
If the colours look weird at all, it's because he was under a redlight, and the whole photo came out red before Wallflower Girl photoshopped it.

Having a kip (Shingle)
This guy was in shed, and just wanted to sleep.

Baby blotchies!

Image

Jubby's long-lost twin! Isn't the resemblance striking?
This beautiful friendly Eastern just wanted a cuddle. It kept coming up to the mesh and "tasting" my fingers, obviously wanting attention from all the folks gathered around.

OMG Shingle!
This beautiful young shingle was being shown around by a keeper.

And I got to hold it!

The blurry, dark-haired elf in the background is my cousin. She keeps frogs, and she is WAY too tall.

Competition entrants

Eastern
Image

HUGE Bluey
Though the photo doesn't show it, this guy was enormous. The show tanks were 2 feet long, and he took up the whole glass front.
Image

The next two from memory were both Eastern colour mutations, involving a lack of most pigmentation. The first one in particular was striking because the eyebars remained.

Image

Western, a rather well fed one at that...
Image

Mother and Baby Shinglebacks
Mother was sleeping...
Image

Baby was running amok. Isn't that always the case?
Image

Tongue!

And lastly, this gorgeous Northern.
What you looking at?
Image

*sigh* Fame is such a burden...
Image

What do you say, help me bust outta this joint? Just... gotta... shift... this...
Image

Please? Don't leave me...

Amazing pictures!! I love those all-black shingle babies!! And the color morphs were amazing! They are all gorgeous!! I wish I could be at a reptile show like that. The only show we had was the first mannitoba reptile convention, it was one small room, and no one was very knowledgable. Only 2 BTS, no seller knew there were subspecies of BTS. The thing that made me really mad was that everyone had the temps up way too high to make the animals active and more appealing. I want to go to all the amazing conventions u guys get to! Especially if they have skinks as beautiful as those. Gawd am I ever jealous and soo in love. Thanks for posting!

As a request, could a Mod please take some time and change these pics to a more reasonable size? I have broadband and it took me forever to load. It must take decades for our Dial-Up people. EDIT: nvm this. It turns out my step-dad was playing with the net when I was uploading, which is why it took forever. It loaded much faster for me the second time. -.-' I need to find out where my family posts the upgrade memos...

The pictures are about as small as they can be and still be able to be viewed clearly. I'm sorry if it took a while on your connection, but it is hardly the biggest photo thread that has ever been posted on here. Short of breaking this thread into three separate threads (which would be impractical, and probably cause the mods to frown) there really isn't an alternative. I did warn in the subject line that there were lots of pics.

I have dial-up myself. If there's a big thread, I simply open it, and do something else for a while, while it's loading.

I think they're a good size. It's just the number of pics that slows down the loading. Other than actually cropping unwanted portions out, which would take awhile with this many, there isn't an alternative. Except patience. :)

I'm glad you posted them all though instead of just a select few. :)

The gorgeous northern at the end. When he has his foot up on the glass, it looks like his toes are missing?? Or is it just the way he had his foot pressed on there? I keep looking at it and wondering.

I think it was a combination of the angle and the fact that he was actually moving it when the photo was taken. He was in the "show" section. I doubt his owners or breeders would have submitted him had he had so obvious a deformity. I don't remember him having toes missing, anyway! I lingered at his tank for a while, talking silly baby talk.

Oh! So this was an actually "show" as in people entered their animals? I thought it was just an educational "show", not one where they actually won. Very cool!

He's so irresistable. I would still be there talking baby talk!

Both, plus an area for realtors dealing in bluey supplies and the like. The top two blueys were "helping" sell enclosures, and I think the baby blotchies were for sale themselves.

Yeah, I think it may be.

reptileking, WallflowerGirl actually tells me that snake I wasn't sure of is a Rough Scaled Python, not a Woma. It was a prize that you could win, along with a turtle enclosure, a hypermelanistic and an albino juvenile Eastern BTS (all donated by Snake Ranch, I think). We took pictures of the hypermelanistic and albino BTS, but the pics didn't come out.
