No  I haven't measured him yet....I'd do it now but they're all sleeping..

I'm going to get measurements of all of the crew tomorrow and I'll post it for you then! :D

And yeah, I use wet catfood....one of the only ways Phantom seems to want to eat  He won't eat pinkies/snails/worms or real cooked meat unless it's in itty bitty pieces...lmao...crazy boy...

Frankie loves snails and will eat pinkies and wax worms. She will not touch silk worms know matter how I try to trick her into it. Oh she love roaches too!

well, my dad just told me to make a vet appointment for him and he would pay for it! not that i need him too but my dad really prioritizes the animals in our life and he wanted to make sure i could do it with ease. i love my dad. so i'll make an appointment on monday unless he starts chowing down and pooping like crazy.

yea, if there's ever an issue with any one of our animals, my dad always says, it's not worth any chances, just do it anyway, i'll pay for it.

My dad grumbles about my animals but he's the one who gave me the money for Spike and built Frankie and Spike's cages. He also sneaks my cat Benny shrimp whenever we have it.

What an awesome daddy! I come from animal people. We typically like them much more than humans.

My dad would take things to the vet more often, if he had more money lol. I mean emergencies and vaccs are all, no checkups.

My mom would have em die off. THats why my hedgehog died when i was in 6th grade, got sick, she wouldnt take him to the vet.

Great!

Just out of curiosity, how many people would take a sick pet hamster or similar pet to a vet?

I would take any of my pets to a vet that would be willing to see them.

But if your kid's mouse was "sick", would you pay a hundred dollars at the vet?

Why is the "sick" in quotes? Of course I would. I wouldn't want my, or my kid's pet, to die because I neglected it in any way.

Because I'm not sure if you could actually determine whether a mouse was sick unless it was really obvious. I don't know, I don't think I would spend hundreds on a mouse. :noknow:

I guess I just basically think that any animal that I decide to own I am making a promise to. I am promising that I will do the very best I can for them, and that includes housing, food, healthcare, and whatever I can to make their stay with me as pleasant as possible.

If I weren't willing to spend money if my mouse got sick, why would I get one in the first place? The same goes for my tarantulas, or even my cockroach (although I doubt a vet could do much for him ;)). Even though I don't have a huge emotional bond with them, their health and "happiness" are still very important to me. Just my two cents on the matter.

I agree. Plus I think that enforces to your child how precious all life is and the responsibility that you take on when taking in a pet - including the financial responsibility that one needs to consider with pets. You don't want them to think they are disposable and replacable. You also don't want them to think you are a heartless parent and risk them resenting you. Especially with younger kids you don't want them to give them impression that you wouldn't do the same for them if they were sick.

Zen, your dad is great! Maybe Pup didn't like the idea of going to the vet. Did he eat as much as he used to or just more than he has lately?
