Apearently I have an Indonisian BTS

I know most of you said my bluey was an IJ or and Eastern/IJ cross. But I was just at the pet store I bought him from, and the scientific name on the tag was Tridancna giga, which is an Idonisian, or as they call it a New Guniea BTS. What makes Idonisian BTS different from the others besides all black legs, How big do they get?

Maybe they were mistaken? He looks exactly like my IJ.

This is my Indo "Kilowatt" ...all indo's look the same basically, besides color variations.

Well pet stores are wrong more often than they are right. You definitely do not have an indonesian. Also last time I checked trittledinky isn't a genus.


Update: This is too funny. I just googled tridacna gigas and it is the name of the giant clam.

that is funny, I searched it to, and It didn't come up as anything, but I search wikipedia, and indonisians were classified as tiliqulias gigas gigas, or something like that, so at least the gigas part id right.

Yeah, Irian Jaya is NOT gigas. The IJ actually has no scientific name right now because so many people disagree about where they belong. The gigas is only given to the Indo and the Merauke.

Heh, read our carepage, you'll find advice saying NEVER to buy from a pet store. They just don't know one darn thing about them. The employees are hired kids who can't be experts on each individual reptile. Many act like they do and end up giving HORRIBLE advice which results in lots of sick BTS.

Pet store workers are mostly idiots. Mostly, not all. I've gone to great lengths to help educate the ones around my town concerning blueys. I determine an idiot as being someone who learns and then ignores information.

Ah yes Petstores. Mine told me I have a tiliqua scincoides scincoides (eastern) and at the same time called him a New Guinea (Island that is aka Irian Jaya) BTS He is in fact an Irian Jaya (there are none identified as New Guinea BTS so there you have it you have a beautiful Irian Jaya Blue Tongue skink.
