I'm about to pay $250 canadian for a 1 year old, properly cared for (that I know of) Irian Jaya and its 4x2 enclosure and some hides. To me this seems like a great deal, but I'm curious if others would disagree having more experience. Is there any reason for me to be suspicious?

Sounds like a good deal to me. Have you seen the bluey in person? If you're unsure of it's health, you could post pics and the very knowledgeable people (not me, lol) on here would be glad to have a look at it. It may be a good idea if you're new to blueys.
I am new to blueys and bought 2 adults w/setups, but was able to purchase them from forum members so wasn't worried about their health.

If the animal is well-taken care of, and the tank is included, I'd say it's a good deal.

Yeah, if it was a garbage tank and a wild caught Irian Jaya, I'd say that it isn't a good deal.

I contacted the pet store it was bought from, and they told me all their skinks are captive bred. The enclosure is rather garbage like, but I am charged only $30, so it's fine. I have not seen it in person, but I have some pictures, and actually there's something on him that looks a little odd (mites, burns, but probably nothing) I will post a picture of it later on.

don't settle if they are charging 250.... things that look odd aren't good.

Here's the little guy. I'm already set on getting him, I doubt I'll back out now. However, would anyone help me identify what that little bit of miscolouration on his left side it (on the third ring). Now I'm just being cautious, but I think if it were mites, it wouldn't be such a little spot. So I think it's eather a burn or just a differing pattern.

Meh, can't see it too well in that one. Here's a zoom in.

He's pretty!
I'm definitely no expert, but it could just be an area that didn't shed properly. I don't think it looks like mites.

If there's nothing standing in your way (which it seems there isn't) I'd say you'd be a tool not to get it!!!
As it has been said - looks like shed that hasn't come off. He/She looks in great condition, Nice patterns, how long snout to end of tail or snout to vent?
At a guess, he/she would be around $400 here in Aus. Seeing as Centralians fetch that price I'd figure the same for an IJ based on rarity.
However, blotchies and easterns go for $40 - $70 - not sure about northerns, anyone know the cost of northerns here in VIC???

Don't worry, I will flood you with pics.
He's around 20" full. I'll measure the exact length when I get him.
$40?? I would think they're just trying to get rid of them if they're that cheap! Probably wild?
