Finally it is cool and raining! As Colin or Ruth or any other NSW person will tell you (or anywhere in Aus actually), it’s been a hot, dry Autumn and the drought’s pretty bad. Maybe now everyone will be able to go to sleep. Ralphie and Santos are trying, but it’s just been too warm. So these just might be the last pics for a while. Jubby is as active as always. These were all taken in the last couple of weeks.
Smiley man #!. Goes to show how big his head is, that you can't see his body at all
Camera. Out of face. Now
Gives a good idea why we call him spade-head!
A bit out of focus but that's because I just stuck the camera down in front of his face
Ralphie's shedding so there's bits hanging off him and he's not too colourful
Hunting yummies in the grass
You can do it, Ralphie! Lift that watering can!
Aww, better luck next time!
No worries, we still love you mate!
Maybe not the world's greatest skink, but surely in the Top 10 for most photogenic!
In one end......
..... And out the other
This is the 'I'd like to come out now, please Mum' position. Or the 'I'm king of the world, woooooooo'
Smiley man #2
Can’t separate these two. Ralphie loves any kind of company
In Aus, we have these lollipops called Chupa Chups. We've renamed them Juba Chups. Here he's enjoying one with Jim, our skinksitter when we go on holidays
This is the current diet. They’re some kind of centipede that we've never seen before, but they're in abundance and certainly enjoyed by all. Still no snails to be found but maybe after today’s rain, finger’s crossed.
As a sidenote, last week we found these huge cockroach things when we pulled apart some old wine barrel plant holders that were rotted and they went down a treat with the kids. Yummy in their tummies. I then looked them up on the net and found that they are giant burrowing cockroaches and they go for $40-50 each as pets. So that’s their birthday and Christmas presents all rolled into one. Like taking High Tea at Harrods or lunch at the Ivy.
Have a great weekend! I’m going to go put my gumboots on and play in the rain
