Help in Research. Need some pictures of Irian Jayas

Hi gang,

I'm off doing my research so I haven't had much time to peruse the site. However if anyone wishes me to read their thread always feel free to shoot me a PM! I'd love to make a comment when I'm asked otherwise I'll probably miss it.

Anyways, back to business. I need some several photos of Irian Jayas from underneath but at a certain angle.

I know it sounds vague but I want to catch the bottom "corner" where the sides touch the floor.

So imagine if you will a skink's body to be a square if you were to look at a cross-section of it.

I want the bottom "corner;" any of the two bottom corners. So you would have to take the picture of your Irian Jaya suspended and perpendicular to the head and tail.

So if any of you have any time I would greatly appreciate it. I will probably even use your picture (with permission, of course) on my future article. Forward your pictures to andrewseike@seikereptiles.com

I'm constantly working on tons of articles. It's strange but I keep putting one away to write another. So I probably have six on going articles I've been working on for the last year or more, all in various states of completion.

Thank you my friends,

Andrew

I'm a little confused as to what you want.

Do you want something like this (Mamma, Merauke)

or something like this (Stewey, Merauke x IJ)
Image

or something completely different. I'll get some of Nona once I get a better idea as to what you need.

:D

I'm also a little confused. What feature are you trying to display?

Do you want them in fresh skin, pre/post or in shed?

Hi guys!

Renee and Marie - thanks so much for your help!

The first picture listed is close. Maybe a more of an angle capturing the bottom and the sides.

I just need to be able to see the sides and the bottom at the same time so taking it at an angle (so both side and bottom) can be seen is the picture I want. So you guys are really close!

Zach can you take pictures of your babies for me too?
I actually need these pictures of ALL skinks actually.

I'll post my findings eventually. It takes a lot of time to get my data together. So this is a long term project for me. I really appreciate everything you guys have done for me.

Please send pictures to andrewseike@seikereptiles.com

with affection and friendship,

Andrew

Oh just a side note. I was meaning to tell you that the merauke you sent died within a week or two after arriving.

It wasn't doing great at all. Did you notice how calm and listless it seemed? Well, i fed it. It seemed to pick at the food here and there. Kept it warm. Etc. Came back in one day - dead. It's the way it goes with these imports. I have had many of them die on my through the years. It's just the nature of the beast. I feel bad about it but honestly it was already on its way out. The other is doing better - eating but the color hasn't changed nor is it really fiesty or strong. I've been keeping my eye on it carefully. I seriously need a good vet nearby that I actually trust. The vets here just lack the experience in reptiles.

Were the two skinks kept together in the same enclosure? I forget. you probably told me already.

So let this be a lesson to buyers - it pays to buy captive bred! You won't have these problems. Sure some things do happen but at least you won't have to deal with an even larger problem caused by their unsanitary conditions. Sometimes it's a miracle these guys even make it over alive. But it's not unsual for them to die even within a year.

Does anyone else have extensive experience with imports? I'd like to hear the stories!

Best regards,

Andrew

I'll be at the Hamburg PA show June 9th. I'm sure a ton of imports are gonna be there. I'll bring my 35mm and take some pics, scan them and shoot them over.

Andrew, you mean the one's from me and Renee? I didn't notice anything, but I didn't handle them much. Only had them for a day...
