thats how i got mine today. They lick at a more predictable rate between chowdown sessions, hehe.

Okay, looking at these amazing pictures made me think... Those are little scales on the tongue, aren't they? And because the tongue of a baby skink is much smaller than that of an adult, it must grow, and therfor must shed. Does the tongue shed??! If those are actual scales, it would have to, wouldn't it? I'm confused @.@ Does that mean they'd eat the shed so that's why you'd never see it??? Somebody help?

Shelly, you're beautiful tongue shots have warped my brain. And didn't you tell Wings that sticking his tongue out is naughty? Next time he does it, use my line "Don't stick that tongue out at me unless you plan to use it!"

I'm guessing it's just their taste buds or something else and not really scales.. at least scales in the same way.

Though it's still tricky to get those pics when it takes more than one second for your camera to shoot the pic after I've pressed the button. Still it's a very good tip!

If you look at your own tongue, it looks like it's scaled as well! I agree with the taste buds.

See if you can turn the time down, my gf's camera lets you reduce the delay from press to flash.

True... I have a tongue ring, but mine is still the normal human pink color, lol. I'm a blowpop away from any color I want though I suppose.

Tastebuds! Poke out your own tongue at a mirror, and you'll see the same texture. Skinks have un-scaled skin in their mouths, just like we do.

Thanks for all the compliments. I thought they turned out amazing. Nothing to with the photographer, it was all because of the model!

Whenever I take mine outside, they're tongues go wild with every new noise or movement. I had to leaves Wings on the deck and picnic table though cause usually he's got his face burrowed down in the grass so deep you can't see his tongue.

Funny how different they are. Freckles bebops along on top, Wings leaves little burrow trails all over the yard UNDER everything.
