I still don't know....

Postby Tiliquagirl » Sat May 29, 2004 1:04 am

So once and for all, do alpine botched have pink or yellow blotches? I know I asked this a while ago but I still don't know because I keep reading different things! I know Ernesto is a lowland blotched, but he has kind of orange pinky blotches which isn't much help because some things I've read say that orange are alpine and some say lowland, I'm so confused!
Seriously though, I keep reading things that say the oppisite to something else!

Tiliquagirl: It's not as simple as being determined by the presence or absence of one color. It's an overall appearance and even that is not precisely defined. As I mentioned before, the reason they are not considered subspecies is exactly because of that: There is way too much variability. But most people would consider a more brightly colored blotched to be alpine. Your definition of brightly colored may differ from mine, but generally that's the real difference (the colors being brighter) and not the specific colors involved. My male had some pink on his back and yet he was a lowland. You just have to look at lots of them before you form an idea of what each phase looks like.

Just the same, Ernesto is the best blotched in your book and that's all that counts! :D

Edward, when did you have your blotched again? Was it a pair, or just that one...

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll just never be able to tell, it's too confusing.
I tried to take photos of Ernesto biting me before but the batteries in my camera are flat again, I really should get rechargable ones! I took him and the others to daycare to show the kids yesterday and Ernesto didn't bite anyone! I wasn't going to let anyone touch him but he was really nice.
Maybe he just has it in for me!

I can get rechargable batteries for it, I just haven't yet so I use the normal batteries.

I had them from the summer of 2002 to the summer of 2003. Don't know when James took that picture.

Does the person you sold them too still have them, or live nearby?

I don't want to think about it too much right now (I do it plenty) but I regret getting rid of them now.

Thanks, tiliquagirl. I was just offered a good amount and I really needed the cash, so I took it. I'll just hug the pillow and rock myself to sleep now. Kidding! But I do wish I had them still.

Well, you must have used some of the money for the Westerns... Pretty good trade-off.

I really do feel very lucky to have the westerns, and I would not sell them for any amount unless I was homeless or something.

It's my goal to get a pair of Centralians. When I have some extra money, I just might do it if the opportunity arose....
