Breeding behaviour or illness?

Hi all,
My bts is about 6 years old and around August he usually goes off his food for 6-8 weeks and drops sperm plugs. This year he went off his food mid June and has dropped some sperm plugs but not as many as other years. The weather has been warmer sooner this year so I put it down to him wanting to mate sooner. He also has been digging too. He hasn't eaten in about 8 weeks properly. Two days ago he had a very sloppy poop and so now I'm worried it's more than just breeding behaviour and he might be ill.
I managed to get him to eat a few blueberries and a morioworm yesterday.
He seems a little off but nothing major, his eyes are bright but he is also going into shed so his scales are dull.
Should I take him to he vets or wait to see if he starts eating again soon? I don't want to wait and him get worse, but also don't want to go to the vets and stress him out if it's just his usually breeding behaviour but earlier.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, lydia
