Can I have a dog if I own a skink

Postby Suzle87 » Wed Oct 23, 2024 11:31 am

We are looking at… and have fallen in love with a Shiba Inu.
I would never leave the two together as in ventress out of his viv, or allow them in the same room with him out of his viv. But would the presence of a dog/barking etc stress a skink. Any advise is welcome, I really don’t want to negatively effect ventress but I really want the puppy so need some people with experience of this to give me their thoughts. Thankyou

Just about everyone I know that keeps skinks has a dog, or more than one. I have seen them terrified of cats though, which is totally understandable as feral cats are their natural enemies in the wild. The only thing preventing me from owning one is that I live in an apartment. And I like huge dogs. Obviously that wouldn't work.

Thankyou splashy, really appreciate your response. I’ve been having nightmares about me getting the dog and him making ventress stressed so I’m glad this hopefully won’t be the case. Thanks again
