Missing toenail

Postby Darkflameth » Tue Oct 22, 2024 6:09 pm

So umm not sure what to do or if she will be alright but my BTS(eastern) Valkyrie is suddenly missing a whole toenail. I only noticed it today but unsure how long it been missing as I have been dealing with a health scare for the last 4 days. She been eating fine mildly over eating but still lots of fruit and drinks. She been hiding bit more but I thought it due to her possibly going into shed soon. I can't figure out how she's done it as everything in her cage she has had for years and her substrate is the same usual type I always get her. Is there anything I should do for her like disinfecting it? If so how? Will it grow back? Sorry for bad pic my cam doesn't like focusing

If she's still eating and drinking, that’s a good sign. She probably lost the toenail from an accident or shedding. Just clean the spot with some diluted betadine to keep it from getting infected (don’t use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide). It should grow back soon. Keep an eye on her, and if anything looks off, a vet might be a good idea. Sounds like she might be hiding ‘cause she’s about to shed or is stressed—just make sure her setup’s right. Don’t stress too much, she’ll probably be fine
