Integrating large enclosures into modern home decor / living room setup

Postby LizardLady46 » Thu May 30, 2024 10:50 am

Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on redesigning my living room layout to better integrate my BTS enclosure without making the room look cluttered or out of balance.
Since standard reptile stands can sometimes look a bit industrial, I'm trying to match the enclosure stand with clean, minimalist indoor furniture. I’ve been browsing through design ideas on https://madorne.com/ to find sleek tables, sideboards, or low mid-century credenzas that could either support a heavy tank or complement the overall wood and glass aesthetic of the setup.
How do you guys style the area around your enclosures? Do you custom-build matching wooden stands, or have you found minimalist home furniture pieces that hold the weight well while keeping the room looking modern? Would love to see some photos of your living room setups!

Spot on about the weight capacity! That's definitely the biggest trap when trying to use stylish home furniture as enclosure stands.
I learned the hard way that cheap particle board degrades quickly if moisture or humidity gets near it, especially around the edges. Solid wood or well-built mid-century sideboards are definitely the way to go if you want both durability and that clean, modern look.
Really liking the direction of blending reptile husbandry with proper interior design. Updates on your setup when it's done would be awesome!
