New skink and Tiny black bugs
So I just got a BTS and we brought him home seems happy. Well when my husband and I took him out yesterday I noticed tiny black bugs only 2 but I don’t know what they are or if we should be worried. We have only had our skink for a week now. He also won’t eat yet. We noticed that he sometimes rubs his head on the side of the tank and when we are holding him(well more he is like a child climbing all over us lol) he will occasionally make a sneezing/ huffing noise but, seems happy otherwise. Should we be worried I love my baby and want to provide the best care possible.

If he came from a pet shop or expo, chances are he is imported and has mites. This is a common problem and will require immediate treatment and a complete break down of cage and furnishings, substrate, etc. Confirm with vet visit, and follow instructions. Mites are no joke and if you have other reptiles make sure they are nowhere near his cage.

Thank you. Now should I be worried that he hasn’t eaten since we brought him home? It’s been about a week and we have seen him drink water and he is exploring the tank he just hasn’t eaten anything yet.

Also we did get him from a pet store they had to order him for us and they gave us a age guess of about 2 years old and ~15” long but, had no other facts about him for us so we don’t know anything about his eating habits or enclosure from before.

Please get him to a vet. This is not going to get better if he indeed has mites.
