Hello!
I'm a new user here and am still not sure of how to use forums (as this is my first time), nice to meet you all.
I recently bought a shingleback lizard (female) and noticed a weird occurrence on her tail... I'm not a newbie reptile/animal keeping, however all the lizards i have kept were "arboreal" and had prehensile tails. if those types of tails develop any tail rot it is very obvious and distinct, i noticed this new growth on my shinglebacks tail seems similar to if that were to happen. the scales seem dried/shriveled and do not look healthy or like they are growing properly.
is this normal for shinglebacks?
necrotic growth/scale rot?

Re: necrotic growth/scale rot?
I keep Aspera and at times my male will get a bit feisty and grab the female's tail. This is probably common, and if yours was around others, especially males, I'd say it could be a 'battle scar' that I'd just keep an eye on. May just heal with next shed, but if it tends to be looking worse I'd have it checked out. How about a picture of him? My personal favorite!
