BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi! My blue tongue’s been having strange feet issues for a while, he won’t file his nails on his own well. One toe has curved and hasn’t gone back. Now some other nails are curving and I’m afraid his toes will follow. How do I clip his nails? Should I take a small bit off every week or clip off more and risk hitting his quick? It’s concerning me

It all depends on how comfortable you are trimming nails. I use small human nail clippers. If they are curling that bad you need to get them cut sooner than later to risk damage to the feet/toes. If you don't feel comfortable I would suggest taking it to the vet and having them do it for you. If you try, make sure you have kwik stop on board in case you do accidentally get the quick, it will stop the bleeding.

He’s decently calm atleast when he has to get them trimmed, I’m just wondering how bad hitting the quick is. Is it very painful or will it infect easily? Because I might just need to take off a lot to make them grow straight again.

It can hurt when you quick them. However, I have accidentally made some of my guys nails bleed and once I applied the kwik stop and stopped the bleeding I have never in all my years had an issue with infection.
