I'm a beginner reptile owner, I currently have two geckos, that might need to be replaced soon. I'm wondering if I should get a Blue Tongue Skink as a replacement pet. I really want some more information on them before I do though. Info like, how good are they as pets, what is their main diet, are they slimy, what should I put in their cage, are they nocturnal or stuff like that. If you could just give me a bunch of info on these creatures, I would be very grateful! Should I get a BTS as a pet? :D

Hi there, I have a couple of questions for you? What do you mean you have a couple of geckos that might need to be replaced soon??? That is an odd statement. I suggest you do some major research first before deciding on another reptile. If you are interested in skinks this reptile is a LONG time commitment reptile. Not one you can just ignore and do nothing with. Skinks can be great pets, but there are some that don't like to be messed with. Most skinks eat 50% of a protein source, 40% veggies, and 10% fruit. They are not slimy at all. Skinks need floor space. So an enclosure of 4ft by 2ft by 2ft is the minimum size these guys can be in. They are not climbing lizards but instead like to burrow in a substrate They need at least 2 hides and a water dish. My skinks usually sleep at night and up during the day, but occasionally some will be up at night. This website can provide you with all you need to know about skinks. Hope this helps.
