The reptile shop legit or not?
I have been looking at northern blueys on morph market. I am considering getting one from either The Reptile shop in Temecula CA, or one of 2 smaller breeders that seem legit. The the reason I am considering the reptile shop is because the owner described a particular skink I messaged him about as super friendly. It's a larger facility than the smaller scale breeders which makes me a bit suspicious. I would like to believe that the skink I discussed is as docile as the owner said. Do any of you know weather The reptile shop is trustworthy? Do they sell genuinely healthy captive bred animals, or is there a chance that I might end up getting a wild caught skink that they falsely said was captive bred if I buy from there?

Make sure it truly is a Northern and you will be certain it is not wild caught. I know nothing about the shop so cannot help you there. Perhaps you can check out some reviews and then make your decision.

Re: The reptile shop legit or not?
Hi there,
So Morph Market does a really good job about screening people and making sure they are legit breeders. I actually just purchased a king snake by using the site to find it. The key is to check the breeders/persons website page for reviews/etc. Also if you messaged the person on this particular skink and they responded right away that is usually a good sign. If you have questions and they take their time answering them, that is also a good sign. I hope that helps.

It sounds like they most likely are legit then. The owner was very quick to answer all my questions, gave very detailed responses, and the reviews on morph market, yelp, and facebook were mostly positive. I'll go ahead and buy the skink. Thanks

you are very welcome. If you want to post a picture of the skink you are considering we can verify that it is what they say it is.

Re: The reptile shop legit or not?
Northerns are all captive bred as Australia does not export. Yes, it is a Northern.
Many times skinks are mis-represented by unscrupulous dealers that do not even know what they are, and the consumer will end up with an import that needs entirely different husbandry. This looks good, and a pretty one at that. Good luck with your new baby. You did the right thing by checking. Sure wish everyone would.
