BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I have ventress covered on exotic pet insurance, it's 15 quid a month and so far I've made no claims, just wondering if generally you guys think it is worth having insurance or do you feel the likelihood of Any vet costs would be manageable if the situation arose? Just wondering if I'm better off keeping the money and paying out myself if he needed any treatment. All opinions welcome x

I've not heard of that, but obviously it exists. In 45+ years of reptile keeping I have visited the vet twice, so I will choose to keep my money. These days insurance companies want to nail you for just about everything. And there's a lawyer for that too....

Yeh I think I may just put a little money aside in an account each month just incase.as currently it does feel like I'm paying for nothing, thanks for confirming my thoughts x

There is really no reason for long term captives/captive bred animals with correct husbandry to get sick, although it does happen just as we get sick sometimes even though we take good care of ourselves. With BTs, it's quite rare. My only vet visits consisted of an eggbound bearded dragon and a skink that developed an RI after coming from overseas in November. (Thankfully I am in close proximity to the best exotic vet in this country, and both recovered nicely.) That's one of the pros for keeping BTs, they rarely come down with anything that can't be remedied at home with some husbandry adjustments.
