Hi all,
I've read somewhere that it's good practice to give baby pet reptiles a couple weeks to themselves to let them get used to your presence and the enclosure as early handling can cause stress. I got my first BTS 2 days ago and as I was changing his water I put my finger up to him while he was chilling on top of his cool hide to gauge his reaction. To my surprise he didn't seem scared at all, he gave me a few licks and kinda rested his head on my finger before slowly turning away a minute later.
I can't wait to handle the little guy and I was wondering, based off this interaction, if it's okay to this early on? He has scurried away from me before when I needed to check under his hide for poops but he was eating day 1 and has explored all over his 4ft enclosure already. He often glass surfs the front of the tank even when my big head is right there staring at him.
Should I give him another week to settle down?
First post here, hope I did it right. Thanks guys!

He seems settled in already, I'd say go ahead as long as he's eating and doing everything else he is supposed to be.

Re: Can I handle my baby BTS?
Thanks for the reply splashy, I might actually give him a few more days because I figured out he was extremely tired when i interacted with him yesterday. He was super active all day climbing over everything and he stopped and sat in that spot for about 6 hours, I actually manually moved him to his warm hide when I went to bed as I was worried he didn't have the energy to walk to it himself.
This morning I gave him some boops and he licked me again but darted away as I went to pat his head.
