Hi everyone.
I've had my eastern blue tongue for one week now.
It was born on October 20th. So it's almost 1 month old.
It seems to have settled in well and eats and poos pretty consistently. (Almost daily for both eating and pooing) Although it likes to skip out on eating it's greens/veg, so I might mix them into its meat more.
It is happy to be held and to sit with people for a little while each day.
Anyway. When I got it, it weighed 27g.
This morning it weighed 31g.
So, is 4g gained in 1 week a good rate of growth?
I intend to weigh it weekly to make sure it's gaining well.
Thanks.

Re: Hello. New skink owner, weighing skink/growth question.
Hi there,
Congrats on the new skink. Typically weight gain is variable between skinks but as long as it is trending upwards regularly as it grows into juvenile phase and then adulthood you don't have anything to be concerned about.
It sounds like it's doing everything it should - Easterns are also very small as babies compared to other types. A sudden significant drop in weight with other changes in behaviour would indicate something isn't right for example.
Here's an example of my skink Peanut's weight gain trajectory from my records:
3w old - 48g
1 month old - 62g
1 m 1w - 88g
1m 2w - 105g
1m 3w - 126g
2 months old - 146g
2m 1w - 158g
2m 2w - 182g
2m 3w - 200g
3 months old - 215g
3m 1w - 215g
3m 2w - 215g
3m3w - 220g
4 months old - 240g
As you can see the amount can be quite variable. Hope this helps to alleviate your concerns
