Ivermectin questions

So about the last post about Bajo being unwell, that he’s lethargic and losing weight etc;, I took him to the vet earlier today and they said he’s bright and healthy but may have internal parasites so they prescribed ivermectin. I know the dosage and that I should use it once every 6 weeks but I don’t know if I should give to them before or after feeding or does it not matter?
Also is it normal for them to cough after being given ivermectin? I noticed Bajo was coughing a bit shortly after putting him back in his enclosure.
