Hi everyone
Kermit our Blue tongue skink is around 5 to 6 months and we was wondering is he to young to be eating medium sized snails? Information on the Halmahera side is really difficult to find so I'm hoping some other owners can help????

I'm sure if they found one in the wild they wouldn't think twice. There are shelled varieties that are marketed as pet food that you can buy if you'd rather not worry. I have never fed live snails (I like them and keep as pets) so maybe someone else can chime in here?

Hi there,
Depending on the size of your skink it should be fine - BTS are expert snail hunters and have a brilliant way of cracking the shell gradually until the entire snail is exposed, then swallowing it whole. (If you are feeding live snails or snails with shell intact) It should be noted the actual size of the snail is less than it appears with the shell. Keep it simple approach works best- if your skink can properly bite down on the shell to break it that is a pretty good guide. If it can't fit the shell in its mouth thats a safe bet the snail probably a little too big.
