Our AC just went out yesterday and I realized that if I just used a dimmer switch with a halogen flood, it would remain on even though it could be super hot without AC because there's no probe to sense changes. I'm mostly worried about it being out when I'm not home to notice, however this is the 1st time it's been an issue. I'd just like to play it safe for any future mishaps. Ideally, I'd have a reptile room with its own heating and cooling setup, as well as a backup AC unit, but that isn't possible where I'm currently living. The new enclosure I ordered hasn't arrived so I'm not too worried about anything ASAP since I'm using a standard LED for viewing and a CHE for heating (hooked up to an on/off thermostat, so the temps have been stable), but I'm unable to find any good dimmable thermostats in the US. There are several quality ones on UK sites but they won't ship here unfortunately. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I would be able to find in the US (or buy secondhand if available)? I've already checked eBay.
My first choice would be this unit: https://www.reptilecentre.com/microclim ... 515865.htm
I'm willing to pay extra for shipping costs if anyone in the UK was able to ship it to me for the peace of mind.
