I have to go back to the store to pick up a few more cans of food for my skink!
However, my PetSmart has HUNDREDS upon hundreds of types and brands of dog food and the shopping experience becomes really stressful when I'm trying to find the "best" one. I know in the end as long as it has basic things in it like chicken, turkey, etc. it's good, but it still stresses me out picking one thing out of thousands of options!!!!
Is there a specific type of dog food anyone prefers to feed their skink? I've attached pictures below of the two kinds I've been feeding her the past two weeks, but I wouldn't mind giving her new types. I just like to know what I'm looking for before I go to the store, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love that and it'd be a huge huge help!!!!!!!

Re: Is there a Specific Kind of Dog Food you Prefer?
Hi, I am also a relatively new skink owner (a year ish) but I have worked in the pet industry for many years. Purina food I would say is only "ok." I look more so for higher quality brands like Evangers, Zignature, Wellness, Stella and Chewy's, Honest Kitchen, etc. These brands are more limited ingredient, include both meat products as well as bone and organs (which I heard are good for skinks). Something else I was told to avoid are any fish products and spinach, so I always look for those when looking at foods. Basically I just look on the ingredients for a variety of protein, veggies, and even fruits on the label. Hopefully this helped!

A note on some dog foods, some brands will use potatoes as filler, and I would avoid foods that use them. I'm told that blue tongues have a hard time digesting potatoes and other startches.

My skinks absolute favorite is Natural Balance Gobbler Cobbler and also Hill's Salamon. For some reason they LOVE them both. I have success with others, but those two they never miss a meal.
