For the past few months Kovu's heat globes have been blowing like crazy, the globe went this morning and this one is not even a week old! and this is becoming normal. I use the reptile one 50W day heat lamp. I thought that the issue must be external as each globe only lasts a few weeks to a few months if I'm lucky. So i went and got a new lamp and I am still having this problem. I have spent a crazy amount on globe replacement and I was wondering if anyone else has this issue, or if they have advise to a different alternative ? :helpme:

My eastern uses a 100W heat bulb and it usually lasts around 3 months. I think it's just the quality of the bulb. I get mine from animates.

So usually the lights will blow if you are using the wrong style hood.

I used to have the same problem. Have you wiped the globes with a dry cloth before switching them on? The oils on your hands create hotspots on the glass causing the globes to blow early. I’ve been doing it lately and had my lights last so much longer, like over a year at most.

Make sure any part of the heat lamp cannot be reached by your lizard, besides the obvious hazard of burns if they bump it while it's turned on this can cause the filament to break, while hot the filament is very soft and easily damaged.
