Sunrise/ sunset

Just curious if anyone’s thought about this. I’ve wondered about when Stevie’s lights come on in the morning and go off at night,-they’re on timers- that it must be quite disorientating as it’s so sudden. Does anybody have a way that they’ve replicated sunrise and sunset for their skinks instead of just suddenly being turned on and off? Also does anyone time their timers to replicate their Skinks natural place of origin daylight cycle? Looking forward to what people think of this

I've wondered this too. The only way I can think of is putting them on dimmers, but I dont know if there's a timer out there that can handle switching between 3 different timers or even if putting dimmers on a timer would be safe. Especially since that would turn into plugging the lights into a dimmer and then plugging that dimmer into a timer.

Edit: If you're able to handle the timing manually then a dimmer might work? You plug the lights into the dimmer and then the dimmer into a wall socket. Requires you to do it at the same times every day though I think.

I don’t think this would be especially safe to be honest but it’s a creative idea

Yeah that's why I had to specify that I don't know if it would be safe haha. I dont think it would be, but at the same time, I'm not an electric technician so yeah. Lol

I have had lights on timers for 40 years and my animals are no worse for it.

They usually sleep in their hides anyway so the lights on an off do not bother them. No reason to jump through hoops, they will adjust.

But do you have your lights on a dimmer that's plugged into a timer? That's what I was talking about. I have my lights on a timer too and they're perfectly fine, it's what the timers were made for. Don't think they were made for an electrical linkage though.

No dimmers. Just a standard timer.
