BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Yesterday on the 9th I noticed that my 5 month old Irian Jaya, Blep, was going into shed. I double checked his humid hide, misted a bit more heavily, and generally left him to his devices. When I checked on him this morning he was heavily in shed, but seemed to be struggling a bit. I gave him a 10 minute soak in his travel bin, 85F water and a bit of Shed Ease. When I got home later in the afternoon I noticed that he had finished shedding, but had developed some damages to his lower jaw. He seems to be acting normally so far, and I chose to take pictures with him in his enclosure as I'd fed him before noticing the damage and didn't want to chance regurgitation pulling him out for a photoshoot. Is there anything here I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance!

doesn't look too bad bruising can happen and it looks very minor. I would clean it with chlorhexidine on a cotton swap so the chances for it healing up nicely is better. if it shows no signs of improvement in 1-2 weeks call a vet. But it really doesn't look like scale rot so I think you a good.

My guess is some of his old scales hadn't let completely go. Mine accidentally ribbed some of his scale of on a stick while shedding and he had a little wound, healed just fine, maybe it is the same here.

It doesn't look like to much to worry about. Just keep an eye on it and if it doesn't heal within a few week, then take it to the vet.
