BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hello, does anyone have an opinion about the difference in temperament between the Eastern and Northern BTS. I was just watching a utube video by TC Houston of Reptile Mountain. It is his experience and opinion that the Eastern has better temperament over the Northern BTS. Thank you, Rob

I do not have an eastern or a northern and I have not interacted with either. That being said from my research into skinks and just lizards/reptiles in general, the species can effect the temperament to a certain extent, but unless the species is known for being flighty or defensive a lot of it seems to come down to the personality of the individual. My suggestion would be to choose the subspecies you like better (trust your gut), and then be more picky when you choose the individual animal. Go someplace local, handle them, ask the breeder what the animal is like, things like that. Good luck!

EDIT: Just noticed you are in Florida! Feel free to ask me about local options as I did a decent amount of research into who to buy from, ended up going to Miami Reptile Company.

I keep both, and find no difference whatsoever except for the eastern females...they are the absolute best but there is no way of determining gender until at least subadult.
