I have read information re: garlic being toxic to animals (mostly dogs/cats) however I cannot find any literature specific to reptiles - I gather it is assumed it is toxic for them also (diet charts either list it as likely toxic, don't list it, or list it as unspecified) The concern seems to surround the presence of Thiosulphate (highly concentrated in onions and supposedly high in garlic).
Personally its not something I have even considered using (why risk it) however I would be curious to know if this refers to fresh garlic? I recently purchased chilled loaf style dog food and unfortunately missed right at very the end of the ingredients list it contains garlic oil (obviously very small amounts). I wondered why it would be included in the product if garlic is unsafe? Wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this in formulated dog/cat food? (full disclosure - I was going to bin the food anyway)
