BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Noodle seems to like the scarf. It's like an infinity scarf but folded to create a crevice/pocket to put your pet in. It's originally intended for Guinea pigs, sugar gliders, rats, etc, but I thought it could be used for reptiles too.

He tries to burrow in it as he moves around but if I maneuver the edge close to his head he eventually pokes out and then just chills for a while before climbing out. He doesn't seem to get too cold in it either, after all, it's made of fleece and on me so double warmth lol.

What do you guys think of using items like this to bond with your skinks and build a trusting relationship?

Great idea and what a good photo

I have used similar strategies with towels, blankets, my jumper sleeve, Christmas winter socks etc. I find its even more effective for them if its a dense heavy fabric as it must simulate being burrowed and hidden. A skink that feels safe is a happy skink and thus the best environment to build trust. Peanut is too big for most things now I had used previously - at a year old she's already 44cm (17in). Need to get around to finding or making some sort of pouch especially as we have just entered Autumn here.

Oh that's a great idea! I can sew some of that fluffy fabric you usually find in slipper socks like in your photo to the inside of the scarf. And what a cute photo! She looks comfy in that sock

And I do think it's working, he looked very comfortable when I put him back in the enclosure. He's been grumpy lately so I haven't been handling him much, but today was a very good day first day for getting back to handling.

They do go through grumpy phases just like people If you can fashion it as a C shaped pouch I think that would work really well!
