Hi there
New poster here with a potentially stupid question.
Long story short, neighbourhood cats have been killing native wildlife in my suburban (Brisbane) garden, including 2 BTS.
To mitigate the situation I set up a cat trap and baited it with a small can of tuna. I came back a few hours later and there was a very big and fat BTS with an empty can of tuna in the trap.
The skink appeared unharmed (no bleeding or cuts from the can that I saw) but it obviously ate the whole can of tuna. I wasn’t expecting a BTS to enter and eat the tuna at all. My question is...
is the tuna bad for the BTS? I never have or will feed the wild skinks anything but I would hate to think my trying to protect native animals including BTS by trying to catch a cat would have harmed/poisoned a beautiful BTS.
Can anyone put my mind at rest?
