BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hello!

I have an 8-month old northern blue-tongued skink. For the first two months that I had him, he ate about every other day without fail. However, about 3 weeks ago, he pretty much stopped eating. Currently, he hasn't had a meal in over 2 weeks. I offer him food (dog food mixed with greens and squash) every day, but he doesn't eat it. He does, however, eat mango when I offer it to him. I am worried because he has lost 12 grams in the past month.

His basking area is about 100 degrees and the ambient temp is about 75. He has been behaving normally.

Is this normal? Should I wait a bit longer before I contact a vet?

Yes it is normal for skinks to brumate this time of year. It is frustrating and scary the first time they do it but read up on brumation.
