Hey all I'm Mike. New to Blueys. Just got my first one from my LRS. Have had chameleons dartfrogs monitors and tegus mostly in the past. Got my new guy/gal about 8 days ago. Lenght is about 8 inches head to tail. Not sure what kinda bluey but I have already posted an ID post. Tank set up is 20 long. T5 5.0 uvb 100 watt basking bulb. Air temp on cool side is 75 hot side is 87 with a basking temp of 106-110 f. Average humidity is 40-60. I have seen him eat twice and drink a few times. Have been offering crickets, hornworms, wet dog food, freshpet dog food and all the greens- kale collars basil squash carrots bananas grapes. The only thing I have seen it eat was the freshpet. He/she hides almost all the time. Substrate is for bark and spaghnum moss. Deep enough to hide.
Seems like he/she never really opens eyes unless I'm holding it or it has just been put back into Viv. Any ideas.? Sorry for the long post just want to make sure everything is great for this guy.
Thanks guys Mike

So a follow up about the eyes. After several hours of research, multiple vet calls, and calls to the LRS I found out that the store originally had him with a compact uvb bulb. So it looks to be photo kerato conjunctivitis. Never heard of this before but after removing the uvb strip I had in him he is out and about eyes open and eating and basking! Just something new to me and I guess newish problem in the reptile community. I'm no vet just sharing my experience.

What uvb did you use? I didn’t even know that was a thing, and would like to know more before I get any uv bulbs myself! I know you said it was a T5, but what brand and line name was it?

The original coil bulb was a repti sun uvb 10.0 . 18 inches above the center of the tank. 8 hrs on a day. This was what he was under at the Local Reptile shop.

Interesting. I think that may be one of the bulbs I’ve heard have lowered in quality lately, but I’m probably wrong.
