Hi everybody,
Long-time lurker, first time posting here. I searched the forum but couldn’t find any answers to my situation. My skink (who is about to shed) has been constantly basking ever since we added an Arcadia Deep Heat Projector ceramic bulb and 50 watt basking bulb to her setup (she also has a UVB bulb). Basking temps are ~100 degrees with a range of temps from 75-95 from cool to hot side. It’s a bit dry in her cage (35% humidity at times), so we mist her substrate 1-2x/day and have made a humid hide for her.
Does anyone have thoughts on why my skink is now basking ~8 hours/day? Before this setup, she would come out maybe for a few hours at most on her own and she didn’t bask much. She just came out of brumation in the last few weeks, so she’s eating a bit less than usual, but is pooping normally. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Perfectly normal behavior. Probably enjoying the new light and heat.

Thanks, that makes me feel better! I was worried she was doing it because she was too cold, but she is nice and toasty when we pick her up and her tank has the right temps.

Re: Skink constantly basking?
No problem and your skink is just enjoying the heat. It also must feel secure to be out and about. Good job.
