BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hello everyone. Less of a concern and more of a query. My halmahera bluey is around the 18 month mark which I understand is prime time to begin brumation. In my area of Liverpool the temperature has definitely dropped from the persistent sunshine and will almost definitely stay like this from now till spring. We recently took stevie to have a check up and the exotic vet said everything is all well and good. I haven’t really seen much of stevie at all unless I get him out. Does this mean he is likely to be brumating and how long does this usually last? Thanks

In the wild, Halmaheras do not brumate due to fairly consistent natural temperatures. While most of my Gigas skinks seem relatively unaffected by slight temperature changes, some have in the past exhibited behaviors associated with brumation for several weeks. My Irian Jaya even went an entire winter once many years ago. In my experience, it usually doesn't last for much longer than a few weeks at most.
