My skink won't eat his salad

I'm a new blue tongue skink owner, just got mine yesterday. I understand that for the first week or so, he may be adjusting to his new environment, hiding more, not eating right away etc. My question is, if he won't eat his salad but he will eat the protein source, should I just give him some more of the protein? Or is it more important to maintain the ratio of salad to protein? He gobbled up the canned snails I offered him last night, but he won't even look at the salads. I have read the care sheet and the faq about what foods are ok and everything, just wasn't sure if I should hold out on the meat source until he eats some veggies or if I should just give him what he'll eat for now. Thanks in advance for any info, this site has already been a goldmine so far!

So the best thing to do is blend/mix the protein source in with the veggies so that your skink can't pick out only the things they like. This also helps teach me them to not be a picky eater. I mix up batches of food in a food processor. Then I use ice cube trays to freeze it. I thaw and serve one ice cube sized portion per skink. I stick with the forums guide of doing 50% of a protein source (snails, eggs, ground lean turkey, dog food, etc), then 40% veggies (collard, mustard, turnip, dandelion, or turnip greens, squash's, green beans, carrots, zucchini, cactus pads, sweet potato, etc, and then 10% fruit (banana, raspberry, blueberries, grapes, etc). I also will sometimes feed live insects just by themselves and make a meal of just the bugs. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will try blending the greens with the dog food!
