Purchased a skink a while ago, poor guy had damaged scales, mites, an attitude, and looked just really in need of care. First time owner of any bts but I have been tirelessly fighting the mites and healing his scales. His enclosure is bare bones but I have it set up for higher humidity with coconut husk and moss (after quarantine is done) so I’ve done my research on both merauke and indonesian and I’m glad to announce he’s looking plump and healthy finally! Decided to name him Poe (short for Poe Tato)
My concern, now, is enclosure size but I was told he is a merauke yet when I research I see a bunch of conflicting information. I will be buying a bigger enclosure regardless but if he is a larger subspecies I do want to give him a load of room. I have a suspicion he is an Indonesian, even though he was sold to me as a merauke. I honestly don’t have the experience or expertise to differentiate the two so here are a few pictures so someone can maybe help me out.
Classic Indonesian or merauke?

I figured as much, saves me a bit of hassle finding a larger enclosure though!

Yeah they tend to be on the smaller end. Sometimes up to 10" smaller than the Merauke. 18"-22" isn't uncommon.

Still love the little guy, a bit disappointed but thankfully I know better than to trust what people say when selling animals, even rescues! Thank you so much.
