Adult BTS rescue

[lHi I am a brand new BTS owner. I recently got what I was told was a 3 and a half year old Eastern BTS off Craig’s list. Upon doing some research and I have begun to question that classification. He is not as friendly as I had hoped he would be however he is required some out of the enclosure care such as training nails that have grown sideways and into his feet. I am first wondering if I could get some help identifying his species to pin down humidity requirements I am also wondering if there are tips to taming an adult or if it is just too late. He opened his mouth at me today and from what I gather that is a pretty strong sign of aggression. I am happy to have got him out of less than ideal circumstances but am worried I should have just gone with a baby please help!

He appears to be an Irian Jaya, an Indonesian species. Finding an Eastern on Craigslist would be like finding a shingleback at the supermarket.
Very unlikely he is an Eastern. Probably not handled or interacted with, possibly the previous owner or their son or daughter lost interest and necessitated the sale. Give him time, and post some more pictures, I'd like to take a better look at him. Let him settle in, give him tasty treats and he will learn to trust you in time.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I agree it does look like and IJ, but better pictures would help. Definitely give it time. Talk softly when you are near, offer tasty treats (banana, egg, insects, fruit, etc) so he learns to associate you with good things. Make sure it has plenty of hides to feel secure. Since this is a IJ they need a higher humidity and a substrate that will hold humidity. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to just ask.
