Weird looking tail scales, possible scale rot?
Hi everyone. Today i was handling my little guy when I noticed he had some weird looking scales on the underside of his tail. They look kind of crusty and yellow? I'm worried it might be scale rot - he is a halmahera so I do mist often to keep the humidity up, and i'm thinking it might be TOO moist in there although I usually try to keep the humidity around 70%. These are the only spots where his scales look weird, his belly is fine. Can anyone shed some light on what this might be and if it's something I can help him with at home or need to bring him to the vet for?

I do not see anything indicating scale rot, just a slight discoloration that may be a slightly soiled area, will come off in shed most likely if it doesn't just wipe off. Doesn't appear to be an area of concern.

Okay, thank you. I just want to confirm because I realize the picture isnt the best quality - theres this one spot in particular that worries me where it looks like half the scale is just missing. I was able to wipe away some of the crustiness but its definitely discolored.

Give it till the next shed and see how it appears then. My guess would be good as new! I kept Halys some years back, and being they're imported they do come in with some damaged scales sometimes. Mine did too. All was resolved in a shed or two.

my old bts had that once and it was because the scale had gotten shed to early it healded with time and sheds so dont worry to much unless it looks infected if you really concerned though i would just bring him to a vet if possible buit i dont think theres anything to be concerned about

An update for everyone - he shed yesterday and it's pretty much gone! I guess it was just a bit of damage from his previous shed - theres one tiny little scratch on one of the scaled affected, but you wouldnt even notice if you weren't looking for it. Thanks everyone!
