Feeding green tripe?

Postby ellbanger » Mon Aug 12, 2019 3:28 am

I’ve been wondering this for a while..

Basically the brand of canned cat/dog food I feed my skink (FelineNatural/K9Natural) also sells another product for cats and dogs - green tripe. Just tripe, nothing else added (so it’s not really a “canned dog food” as such, as it’s not formulated to be a complete diet - more an occasional meal booster). From what I’ve found, it’s basically the unbleached/unprocessed stomach lining of cows/sheep and is touted as a kind of “superfood” for your typical domestic dog or cat. Apparently it’s rich in omega 3 & 6, probiotics, and digestive enzymes.

So of course I want to know - is it safe for a skink and if so, is it worth it? Are there any known health benefits, or would it just be a waste of time and money? Does anyone know?

I wouldn't.

I am very doubtful it will be a good "food" to include in a skink's diet. But then I have strong doubts about using cat and dog foods to feed skinks too .

I guessed you’d take a dim view of it, kingsofnobbys - we share differing views on the cat/dog food thing (not that that’s a bad thing!) so I figured you’d have much the same stance on this. That’s not me having a dig at you, though!
