so im feeling pretty worried right now.

i got a irian jaya baby. hes really small, came in at 30 grams. i have had him for about a week now but for the last last 3 days he refuses to eat.

ive tried everything. veggies alone. premium dog and cat food (multiple types). the breeder said they fed rats and i tried a pinkie. nothing.

he ate a few superworms the first few days(i only had large then and now have a small and large sizes) but has stop accepting those as well.

his temps seem good 78 on cool side 95-102 on the bsking slate i have. 65% humidty plus a moss hide for extra moisture.

i have seen alot of posts on here that mainly say "hes new and adujusting leave him alone for a bit. dont worry about him not eating rn. give him time)

the reason in worrying is because i have been weighing him to track his progress and he has LOST a considerable amount of weight. he start at 33 grams went up to 36 and has slowly been going down since 2 days ago. he is now only at 24 grams as of this morning.

im really worried about him because he seems to be moving around alot less and he doesnt seem to want bask on the slate rock. i dont have any vets that will see him around me right now.

does anyone have any suggestions for this. im almost pulling my hair out trying to get him to eat.

Share pictures of your setup - it's often much easier to help when you can see what the caging is like.

If you've been weighing him daily, you're also still stressing him out and not truly leaving him alone. Try giving him a full day or two completely alone, without being weighed, handled, or you touching anything in his cage aside from misting it and changing the water.

So I would suggest getting him to the vet and having a fecal checked. Then in the mean time try eggs, snails, cat food, dog food, etc. Anything to get him to eat. It could be that it is just stressed out. It can take new skinks weeks to adjust. As suggested, leave it alone and don't do anything except feed, water, check for stools, etc. Speak softly and just let your skink adjust. Offer food and keep track if it eats anything at all. Keep us posted.

Some kind of slow moving insect will be the best to offer , ie silkworms ( maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 long ) or hornworms, waxworms, butterworms , or large BSFL , these can be left in porcelain dish ( make sure it's dry for the BSFL or they will climb out and escape ).

Put them in the dish and leave it when he can see them, if he's hungry, he'll raid it when no one is watching .

If you are really worried , you can resort to hand feeding stuff like crickets, roaches, locusts, superworms , BSFL even silkworms or hornworms.
You can find lots of utubes showing how to handfeed a reluctant or sick skink .
