I made susann’s hide...

Postby Suzle87 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:14 am

But used too much gorilla glue... even though she said not to in her post. Oops!! Is it safe for ven to leave it like this? If not how can I get rid of the excess?

Let the glue fully cure. Should be about 24-48 hours. A utility knife will be able to cut out the excess. I probably would only because I'm OCD but once fully cured, that little amount shouldn't pose any harm.

If placing directly under heat source, then I'd just for precautionary reasons cut the excess and wait even longer (7 days), just to be absolutely sure its fully cured. The uncured glue when subjected to heat has the potential to emit vapors that can irritate the respiratory system.

I rushed it and tried to cut it away too soon (before I read this)... so there’s a second lot of glue on some bits now and then Il do as you say and wait 48hrs, then cut it, thankyou.
Going to put it at the cool end but I think il leave it 7days as you say anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Make sure the edges of the tiles are sanded too! Tiles can be super sharp!

I’ve run my finger around all the edges at diff angles and none of it seems too sharp so haven’t sanded but yes good advise to check thankyou.
Ven is suitably unimpressed haha

Thanks everyone.
Unfortunately we are down to a single story building now (and a spare one) the glue didn’t seem to want to stay stuck to the tops of the tiles (perhaps due to the texture or something) but the legs on the underside are staying fine so no problem.
The only problem now is getting him from under it, he lives his entire life under there currently.
