New Hungry Skink

Postby Metzger » Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:03 pm

I got this new northern skink from a breeder 2 weeks ago and was wondering about at what age should I stop feeding her everyday. The breeder told me i could feed her every day or every other day and I have been feeding her every day so far because if i do not put food in she will go to her feeding area and look at the empty space with sad little skink eyes. She is almost 6 months old and I want her to be healthy as possible. Should I resist giving in to the sad little skink eyes and feed her less? I don't want her to get too chubby and thanks for your input.

No. Let her eat her fill of good nutritious food. At her age she needs loads of (insect protein and dietary calcium) to create even more of herself and grow.

I feed my juveniles every day until they stop eating every day. When they slow down you may offer less. I always leave some dry food in there just in case they want a snack. Like mentioned above, let them get all the nutrition they can while still growing. This is when it's most important, as they do grow alarmingly fast.

Thanks you guys I just wanted to make sure she would not get overweight or anything. I will continue to feed her everyday. She is loving Repashy Bluey Buffet right now

You can use that occasionally but I would not recommend it daily.
