BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I purchased my Blue Tongue Skink, Willie, seven months ago. He (I think it's a he) is a Northern and a little over 2 years old. The first two months I had him he didn't shed and I was told that this was perfectly normal after being put into a new home. I was also told that his first few sheds would be flaky, but would eventually get to be roughly one piece. He has shed five times since I've owned him and it is still flaky. The shed has been in bigger pieces but it's still small and flaky.

His humidity is around 60-65% and I spray his bedding daily
His bedding is reptibark but I am thinking of switching to forest floor
His diet consists of 50% greens/vegetables, 40% protein (I use an all-natural chicken dog food), 10% fruit, and calcium powder

Could his diet be affecting his shed? is the humidity right? I'll attach some pictures of him because he is adorable

These guys don't shed like snakes in one piece. Shedding in patches is perfectly normal. As long as he isn't retaining shed, especially on the feet, don't worry about it. Your diet is good, humidity is a bit high for a Northern. They typically do well at levels around 40%. You probably don't need to spray so much.

My guy looks like he's exploded all over the tank when he sheds.
I just soak him in a warm bath for 15min and check his fingers and toes and the tip of his tail at the end of it to make sure it's all gone.

They sure make a mess when they shed! If I'm lucky enough to be home when one of them starts he goes right in the sink for a warm bath until it's all off. Otherwise I'm scraping little pieces off the sides of the cage and everywhere else! Always do a spot check after a shed to make sure no skin is retained on toes or tip of tail, or anywhere else for that matter.
