Stuck shed at tail?
I got my bts 2 days ago and was wondering if the tail is supposed to look like that or if its a lil bit of stuck shed, it isn't a smooth tip but more a lil stump at the end. Also could anyone maybe see what kind of bts this is?

Re: Stuck shed at tail?
Hello! To me it does look like a bit of stuck shed/bad previous shed, as it should come to a smooth point. I'm really tempted to say you've got a Halmahera, as looks so similar to ours! Halmahera's need around 90% humidity, so it's not uncommon to see shedding issues since pet stores often keep them too dry. A typical trademark for ID is the belly scales - if it's mainly black (with a little pink/white speckles) then it's a Haly; if it's mainly pink with very little black then more likely a Merauke. Let me know if you'd want a reference picture
Do you know what your humidity is?

Re: Stuck shed at tail?
Adherent shed can be
>> inadequate humidity
>> excessive protein in diet (some of this deposited in the scales which grow thicker)
try giving him a soak in a luke warm bath , this will likely help loosen the stubborn shed.
A daily application of HerpaShed spray to the area might help too.
Please get rid of the wood chips …. very dangerous if accidentially ingested (some skinks will try to eat them)….. better off with course grade Kritters' Krumble or Coir Peat .
